The Mediterranean Forum for Youth and Childhood (FOMEJE) presented Immigration: Fate of the Mediterranean – a project of a seminar on immigration which is one of the most controversial topics in the Mediterranean countries. The project took place in Assilah, Morocco in October of 2008.

The main aim of this seminar was to deal with the theme of immigration from a viewpoint that investigates the different aspects of the phenomenon. The main objectives of the seminar were to analyze the impact of immigration on the identity of the immigrants and on the countries which take them in and to approach the new laws on immigration in European countries. Another aim was to check the different types of racism against the immigrants and to determine the status of immigrants within the human rights context. The organizers also aimed to reproduce the image of El Dorado in the imagination of the youth in the countries of the south and to analyze the socioeconomic impact of the immigration.
